The floor’s cold is bone-deep and longer than winter. Altar-candles flicker in the shadows, sometimes sputtering, sometimes not.

      *grin* Glad you liked that; the key to understanding the feeling is having to spend a winter in a Korean Dharma Hall. Everything is in shadow under large eaves all year, and the cold which creeps in with the first winter weather stays long after the air outside has warmed with spring.
